Obsidian is quickly cooled volcanic lava, which is a natural glass. The snowflake appearance is produced by internal crystalites, also referred to as flowering obsidian.

As a healing stone, snowflake obsidian shares many important properties of obsidian, but with some subtle yet significant differences in energy.
